The KIA Oval has been the home of Surrey County Cricket Club since 1845 — a stadium iconic the world over for its history and its unique gasholders that have overlooked every game played here since 1853. Surrey first won the County Championship in 1890 and have since lifted that most prestigious trophy in English domestic cricket twenty-three times, most recently in 2024. Walking through the gates, you are stepping into the heartbeat of English cricket’s greatest dynasty. But this ground is more than a county venue. The KIA Oval was the first ground in England to host international Test cricket, in September 1880, and it is here that the legend of the Ashes was born in 1882. Traditionally, the final Test match of the English summer is played on this very turf — making it one of the most storied sporting arenas anywhere in the world.
